Audit data activity doesn't include data changes made by the import package

Hi experts,

Two months ago we created a new import package as a copy of the original one (import.dtsx) and since then, all changes in data made by the new or the old import package do not appear in the auditdata tables (AuditDataLegalApp and AuditDataTmpLegalApp).

We have also noticed that the information recorded in the temporal tables don't get transferred into the standard ones.

We are working with SAP BPC 7.0 Microsoft.

Is anybody in the same situation? Any idea?

Thank you all in advanced,

Jorge

If it may help you, when we click on the "Save Audit Data Now" task from the manage data audit window, we receive the message "Preparing dataloader ..." but it never starts.

Again thank you very much.

Hi Jorge,

this occurs probably because you didn't enable any audit data, audit data save only information about chages on data values. Have you enabled also audit activity?

Which sp are you using?

Have you seen these notes?

1597634 - BPC MS Audit Activity limitations

1577318 - Custom DTSX Package Not Being Logged in Audit Tables

If you want to see only the history of the information partially contained in the "View Status" just look in the tblDTSLog of your appset.

Hi Roberto,

First of all thank you for your fast reply. We have enabled both, audit data and audit activity.

Regarding SAP Note 1597634, we knew that BPC doesn't support business rules or imports of data directly into the tables. The problem is that the new import package and the standard import package don't update now the audit data tables.

Regarding SAP Note 1577318 I am not sure to understand the cause mentioned. Which filename is the text refering to? It sounds strange to me because the standard package, that hasn't been modified, is not updating the tables.

I am not sure which SP we are working with. How can I check it?

If it helps you, here is our audit data configuration:

Thank you very much.

Jorge

Hi Jorge,

Regarding SAP Note 1577318 I am not sure to understand the cause mentioned. Which filename is the text refering to? It sounds strange to me because the standard package, that hasn't been modified, is not updating the tables.

it refers to the length of the file name (input) if it's longer to 50 char's it won't appear.

I am not sure which SP we are working with. How can I check it?

see please this note 1366676 - SAP BPC: What Service Pack, Patch and Build Version am I running ?

Audit data are not working at all, or there are e.g. data sent manually through data entries?

The AuditHdrLegalApp is empty or contains records? No records about your packages?

Hi Roberto,

The length of the filename doesn't exceed 50 chars.

Regarding our BPC version, we are using BPC 7.0 MS SP05 + Patch 1.

The audit data is working for manual entry data, script logics and clear package. The only activity which is not recognized is the import package. The audit data is been sotred in AuditHdrLegalApp table and in the temporal table AuditDataTmpLegalApp.

So, we have two problems. One is that the data changed by the import package is not been tracked and second, that the audit data information never get transferred from the temporal table to the final one.

Thank you very much again for your help!

Hi Jorge,

try scheduling every 30 min or 1 hour your audit data and see if after it the tmp table start to fill the final one. If not try running after the save audit data now.

The audit data is been sotred in AuditHdrLegalApp table and in the temporal table AuditDataTmpLegalApp.

sorry it's not clear for me, in the AuditHdrLegalApp you have all records or the records related with import packages are missing? the tblDTSLog contains the execution of the import packages?

Think also to upgrade your system to the highest sp.

If it's a recent upgrade from a lower version see please 1400710 - BPC Audit Report is blank- BPC 7.0 MS

Hi Roberto,

In the AuditHdrLegalApp we had all records including the ones related with the import package but not in AuditDataLegalApp or AuditDataTmpLegalapp.

The table tblDTSLog contained the execution of the import packages.

We finally solved the issue by shuting down and starting again "OsoftAudit" COM+ Application service.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Jorge,

if solved then please don't forget to mark the "correct answer" (also yours could be) and the eventually "helpful answers" so it can help others in the future.
