Pls advise me - if any possibility of working in SAP_MM , as i have no knowledge of any coding language or ABAP.

Will going for a certification okay - but i dont want to attend classes as i am using most of functions ( given in syllabus) as part of my job.

Certification is not at all mandatory to break into SAP Industry. Try to get a job possibly in an end-user company, where they are using SAP, learn basics, then get a chance to participate in their upgrades or new implementations. Have few years of experience, then if you still have to prove yourself, go for certification.

I am already working in an end user company for 4 years now, also involved in upgrades or implementations wrt MM module in new divisions.

So, is it better to try for job with consultant(SAP) companies or better to start after getting certified.

basically : confused with two things :

1) do end users (with good business process knowledge) qualify as consultants in the industry.

2) or certification is a proper way to start seriously in this field.

Thanks in advance.

Being a consultant, you should have confidence in configuration.

In addition to that if you are in an implementation project, you should familiar with some of these:

End-user knowledge is surely handy, but may not be sufficient to get a job, unless kind is generous to offer you a consultant job. Some companies may give you may be able to train you. But, it is very hard to find such employer.

Certification may provide you basics to configuration and at least it can give you an opportunity to market yourself. It would be an added value to your current skill set.

Thanks a lot,

I am opting to change my field of work - from manufacturing to SAP consulting , so is it necessary to get certified and then  start . As i am little apprehensive mostly because of not knowing anybody from my field switching to SAP as such.

Is there any scope for SAP-MM users with experience (as users)  only without certification ?

You need to check with SAP Education, India and follow the evaluation process. If you pass the evaluation process, then they would advise you to write the Certification without having any training.

In case if they find that your experience does not pass the evaluation, then, you will have to attend the training at SAP / SAP Authorised Training Partner in India.

Hope this helps.

Hi Dilan,

ABAP would be much easier if you have some background in programming, though it is not mandatory, but highly recommended to have some programming knowledge.

e-learning has its own pros and cons.

Pros: Cost effective and you can carry with your own pace

Cons: No real environment, tend to become lethargic

As far as passing of exam is concerned, if you study systematically on a daily basis (may be around 6 hours) and read the materials for more than 6 to 7 times, it is not difficult to pass the exam. However, it is a different matter, how much the Certification would get you a job.

Getting job is altogether is a different ball game.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Ravi
