Hello

we are working in our disaster recovery plan an we are planning to do full copies of our servers and to have identical servers od profuction and replication obviously not at the same time, we are usin a special tool to replicate it,

but we have some doubts, we will have same systems in diferent hardware but this not a migration is an schema oo DRP so i wondered whah will hapen with licenses?

should we have to ask for new licenses for drp servers?

what kind of licenses we have to install?

regards

SAP licenses are based on the hardware key. If the hardware key is different at the DR site then you need to request for a new license based on the hardware key and install it.

To get the hardware key open a command prompt as sidadm and run

saplicense -get

thanks for the anwser,

We have an schema of cluster in my production servers and we have two nodes on the cluster,  so we have to ask for two licenses because we have two servers?

we have to ask for normal licenses or an special kind of license for drp?

if we run our drp server without a license what would happen?

thanks in advance

You install license for the node (based on the hardware key) where the CI runs. When you start the SAP system at the DR site then SAP will not let you login (except with the SAP* user) if there is no valid license installed. There is no specific license called DR license. You will install the standard license and only if there is a change in the hardware key. If the hardware keys are same on both the sites then there is no need to install the license again.

Hi Alfredo,

You need to register DR server on SAP servicemarket place and request for a new SAP license.

SAP license can be applied once you make your DR SAP application up and running.
