Hi folks,
I have just installed some Windows Updates on my Solution Manager box and after a reboot, disp+work and msg_server won't start.
r3trans -x and r3trans -d all check out - no problems.
I've checked the status of dba_users - no problems.
Relevant Windows users not locked.
I've backed the updates out and restarted everything - still not starting.
I've attached the dev_disp and dev_w0 log files.
Any help here would be appreciated.
Thank you.
(Oracle 11.2.0, Windows 2008)
Ok guys, thanks for your replies.
1) localhost does resolve to 127.0.0.1
2) The default profile: rdisp/msserv_internal = 3900, rdisp/msserv = sapsmSMR
3) I've tried to run sapcpe as above and restart - still the same issue.
4) Finally, I have re-applied the current Kernel Patch (the latest available) - problem STILL exists!
This is good one!

Hi Paul,
Hope you are doing good.
Can you please share the latest logs.
The best option would be to use the 7.20 kernel.
The below links will help you if there are any queries with the kernel update procedure:
SAP Note No. 1636252 - Installing a 7.20 kernel in SAP Web AS 7.00/7.01/7.10/7.11
SAP Note No. 1629598 - SAP Kernel 720 will replace older kernel versions
SAP Note No. 19466 - Downloading SAP kernel patches

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone for the replies.
Problem is now solved. It was indeed the entry in the services file. Changing this from 3900 to 3600 fixed the problem.
I'm going to re-apply the Windows Updates that kicked all this off one at a time and see if one of them caused this.

Start your CMD window and go to your profile path
(Example: cd /usr/sap/<sid >/sys/profile)
Here you can see your sap profiles...
than run ......sapcpe pf={sid>DVEBMGS___>hostname ......}
during this activity you have to login with <sid>adm.. user in your system

Hi Paul,
***LOG Q1K=> MsIAttachEx: StoC check failed, Kernel not compatible with system (rc=5) [msxxi.c 820]
*** ERROR => Kernel incompatible to already connected instances (see dev_ms for details)
As far as I can see, their is a kernel mismatch.
Share dev_ms and run sapcpe to sync your kernels with profile names of CI and SCS.

Divyanshu

Hi Paul,
Can you paste the value for the parameters rdisp/msserv and rdisp/msserv_internal.
By default the value of rdisp/msserv = 0 and rdisp/msserv_internal = 3900
Also Run the sapcpe command on cmd
sapcpe pf=\\SRVSAP64SMR\sapmnt\SMR\SYS\profile\SMR_DVEBMGS00_SRVSAP64SMR
then take a restart of the system.
With Regards
Ashutosh
Hi Paul,
Thr 720] *** ERROR => rdisp/msserv and rdisp/msserv_internal must not be the same value (3900) [msxxserv.c 2414]
[Thr 720] *** ERROR => MsSInit failed, see dev_ms for details
Check DEFAULT profile for these parameters.

To run SAPCPE - logon as SIDADM stop sap - got SYS exe and run SAPCPE pf=<Full Path with profile name>
Once done, restart DB and SAP.
