E-rec reports - Time out error

Our client is using SAP E-rec standard reports. We are getting time out error when running below queries due to the data load.

As user wants to pull reports urgently, we are working on to bring selection screen when excuting reports. In this case we can pull reports by applying filter criteria so that system will process less records instead of processing entire E-rec data.

Our client is just having 10000 headcounts(Many organisations having Lacs of employees). Please suggest me is there a way to optimize data load and so we can avoid time out error?.
