03 and 04 inspection type

Hi,

This is more a conceptual question so please dont type up how to create an 03 and an 04 inspection lot.

  • If I have 03 working perfectly and I control inspection during manufacturing then do I really need an 04 inspection lot ? What MICs can I park in the 04 inspection plan which I cannot park in the routing inspection operations ?
  • Right now if I have more than one inspection operation in the production order, I can inspect the 2nd operation before I can inspect the 1st operation. How do I prevent that from happening ? I want to make sure that the 1st operation has to be in QMDA status before the 2nd operation can even be picked up for results recording.

Thanks

Hi,

Please find the answers..

If I have 03 working perfectly and I control inspection during manufacturing then do I really need an 04 inspection lot ? What MICs can I park in the 04 inspection plan which I cannot park in the routing inspection operations ?

It depends on the business..03 is during manufacturing to check some of the physical one's and done normally by production people where as 04 to check all physical and chemical properties of the product by the quality people..take the example of Pharma industry..during production of tablets with 03 inspection lot production people check tablets weight, diameter, thickness..after completion of batch production quality people will check along with  weight, diameter, thickness they will check assay, dissolution, disintegration and other chemical properties with 04 inspection lot...

Right now if I have more than one inspection operation in the production order, I can inspect the 2nd operation before I can inspect the 1st operation. How do I prevent that from happening ? I want to make sure that the 1st operation has to be in QMDA status before the 2nd operation can even be picked up for results recording.

You will have only one inspection lot for all the operations. it is standard SAP. try to  control with PP confirmation configuration in OPK4..check with your PP consultant on this...or use some enhancement in QM for checking this during RR..

Thanks
