How to create variants for publications promts?

Hello masters,

I got few publish objects with a lot webis documents sources and each document has some prompts. Each month the user needs to change the values of all prompts of each webi document on the publication, which are almost the same values (date intervals).

With the new migration to 4.1 it was supposed to solve it with variants but I can't see how to create and introduce a variant on the publication prompts. Am I confuse on the new feature or there is a way to do it?

Hi Oscar ,

You need to create optional date prompt variable  in BW which fills your requirement .

Ex : If you require report should always run for 1st of the month to last of month .Then create Optional date variable in BW with interval .write customer exit ,

if from date is left blank it should take 1st of the month and if todate is left blank it should take last of the month .

when creating webi schedules , leave prompts as blank.

Do you know if that is a new feature with 4.1 version? As I understood the variable I could create on BO, is that right?

Variable should be created in BW - which is mandatory /optional and ready for input which then acts as a prompt in webi.

Variants in BW are supported in Analysis for OLAP not in Webi.

What a drag! I was hoping BO 4.1 would let users to do scheduling based on dynamic prompts. So sad it is not available, and who knows if someday they will include a feature like that. Users really need it, not only Webi users. Crystal reports users, too.
