Cube to cube data loading

Hai All,

I have few questions regarding the procedure for cube to cube data transfer within BW.

I have two different cubes in two different servers both being BW. I need to load data from cube1(C1) in BWsource system1(BWS1) to cube2(C2)) in BWsource system2(BWS2).

I am doing the following steps:

1. Generate export datasource for C1(a infosource,IS1, in DM has been generated)

2.BWS1 and BWS2 are already connected using RFC

3.Then create an application component in system2. Create an infosource IS2

4. Assign IS1 to IS2

5. Replicate datasources and activate transfer structures

6. Create update rules for C2

7.Load data into C2 by creating infoPack under IS2

Unfortunately my info pack is showing unreasonable no. of records in the load monitor and giving me short dumps.

Am I missing anything in the procedure? Also here are some questions:

1. I didnot assign IS2 to IS1 and replicate data sources? Do I need to do that?

2. My source system BWS2 is not active now. I tried to activate it but its saying "cannot activate source system"

Is this a problem?

3. Finally, Do the cubes C1 and C2 should have the same objects? I think they should atleast the cube to which I am loading should to have all the objects in the cube from which the data is loaded.

I appreciate if anybody could answer these questions.

hi,

i try to understand your data staging,

c2 is target in bws2, pls following modified steps

1. generate export datasource for c1 is datasource (not infosource), say it's ds1

2. ok

3. ok

4. in bws2, first you have to 'replicate datasource' for source system bws1. then assign ds1 (not is1) to is2

5. activate transfer rules

6. create update rule for c2, assign with is2

7. ok

1. answered, replicate datasources first then assign ds1 to is2

2. your source system bws2 should be bw myself in bws2, in this case seems not problem when bws2 not use as target for other bw, or for ods scenario. however try to activate it. any detail message can't activate ?

3. not necessary to have same name infoobjects, you can do mapping with different name.
