Hi ,

I want to know Whether SAP Netweaver 7.02 not SP6 could be installed on Windows Server 2008? The help install document only mentioned Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, not mentioned Windows Server 2008, but I want to install it to Windows Server 2008 w64, I don't know whether could be installed successfully.

    Thanks for help!

See the Platfrom Availabilty Matrix (PAM). The short answer is yes although I don't really understand what you mean by "not SP6". This discussion thread belongs to the space, since I don't see what this has to do with Web Dynpro ABAP.

OK, Thanks! Let me try.

And another question: before install SAP Netweaver 7.02, I should install Java for Windows Server 2008, I have downloaded the following four types of Java:

j2eesdk-1_4_02_2005Q1

j2sdk-1_4_2_09_windows_i586

j2re-1_4_2_19-windows-i586-p

j2sdk-1_4_2_19-windows-i586-p

But, I don't know which type I should choose to install?

    Thanks for help!

JDK will not be required in new SWPM sapinst. if it asks you can install any one mentioned above, better latest.

Hi Munish,

    Thanks for your help!

But why the document of SAP installation says:

  • If you start sapinst the first time, you will be logged off your operating system and afterwards prompted for the installation directory of JRE 1.4.latest or 1.5.0_22 (tested).
Do not use 1.6.x! The installation will start, but not finish
    .

Hello Shelly, Your most of the question are in installation guide: SAP Systems Based on the Application Server ABAP+Java SAP Java Virtual Machine (SAP JVM) You no longer have to download and install a Java Development Kit (JDK) from another software vendor as a prerequisite for the installation. The SAP JVM 4 is a Java Development Kit (JDK) provided and supported by SAP. It is fully compliant to the Java Platform Standard Edition 1.4. The installer contains SAP JVM 4 and deploys it with the SAP system or instance being installed. The diagnostics agent is installed automatically with SAP JVM 6. Regards Munish Regards Munish

Hi Munish,

But I don't know where to download SAP JVM 4.

My SAP NetWeaver 7.02 is only a trail version, so I couldn't download SAP JVM 4 from SAP Market, could you give me one?

   My G-mail is: shelley.chen1985@gmail.com

   Thanks!

If there is no SAP JVM 4, I only could install SAP NetWeaver 7.02 with j2sdk-1_4_2_19-windows-i586-p or j2re-1_4_2_19-windows-i586-p or j2sdk-1_4_2_09_windows_i586 and j2eesdk-1_4_02_2005Q1, I don't know which version I should choose to install.

Hello Shelly, you need to read the installation guide from SAP market place from service.sap.com/instguies URL. SAP JVM is part of the installation package which you download for the installatin, if you have older version of NW then download the JDK 1.4.2_?? version and give the path when doing installation. this is as simple as that, if it asks JDK then install 1.4.2_?? (Whichever latest version e.g 1.4.2.30).. don't worry on the JDK part 🙂 Regards Munish
