Distribution & Collection in BPC 10 functionality not working properly

Former Member

Hi Folks,

We are working on SAP BPC 10 NW SP 04 and EPM Add-In SP 16 .NET 4 Framework.

We are using standard Offline Distribution & Collection functionality to create offline templates to be used by user for offline planning. Currently we have configured 3 steps for Distribution & Collection function.

In the first step

1. Download – The user will open the Distribution template, select the Entity and save the template(Open Distribution Template).

2. Distribution – In this step the user will distribute the template to users locally using folder location for that particular Entity using Distribution Wizard function.

3. Upload – In this step the user will collect the data from the offline distributed templates using Collection Function.

The issue which are facing while using this standard functionality is that when we first open the excel instance and download the offline template, and then try to distribute using Distribution wizard, the process gets stuck.(Kind of hanged).  Instead if  we open the excel again and this time directly distribute using the Distribution wizard then it distributes easily without any error.

Also one thing we observed were is if the Excel instance is opened for a long time for more than 2 mins, or if you perform some other activity first and then use Distribution function, then also the Distribution process gets stucked.

Please guide me on this if I am missing anything. Searched the forum and all documents available for this, dint get any insight on this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,

Priyanka

Hi Priyanka,

I have found the same errors than you have. Found the reason for the first; a bit late for you though...

For the first error you mention: you can't run the distribution directly from the Excel document that will be distributed. That's why when you do it from a new Excel workbook it works.

For the second error I still haven't found a solution. Sometimes, the Excel instance keeps on after the distribution is over and I have to force its shutdown.

I hope someone knows the solution.

Hi Priyanka,

Just as an idea, test the effect of antivirus software (temporary switch it off).

Hello Vadim,

I want to thank you for your comment

In June I spent 3 weeks to install Eclipse. Every day I tried to install Eclipse, but in log I had only errors.

Rui (in the SAP HANA CLOUD class) did it but I didn't. I was desperate

I looked everywhere explanations, but I found nothing. After 3 weeks I read a post of yours and I did what you said: I stopped antivirus!!! And it was working

Warmest wishes,

Gabriel
