Hi All,
I'm trying to in stall the SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP 7.03 SP04 Trial application but I'm not getting the install screen.
When I launch the SAPINST program I get a screen that flashes and then nothing. When I check in the windows taskbar I see a SAP idoc for the program starter. When I open this one I can see the log below.
I'm trying to install this on a windows 8.1 laptop.
I have installed the latest version of JAVA 64 bit as recommended in the following blog
I have full rights on this laptop so authorization should not be a problem.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get this installing?

I had absolutely no issues what-so-ever. I also did not need to copy any "...\drivers\etc" content to anywhere else in my c drive.
I believe the trick is on the java you install before running sapinst.exe
I am using j2sdk 14.2.19 for Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit (NOT, I repeat, NOT JRE)

Some additional information.
When the SAPINST is executed it creates a new folder in windows 8 this is under the C:\Users\peter_000\AppData\Local\Temp\ folder. This folder gets a dynamic name like sapinst_exe.7668.1407600607. In this folder is also a version of Java.
Now I made a copy of this folder because at the moment that you exit the SAPINST program this folder gets deleted.
Anyhow after having copied this folder I replaced the filed in the JRE folder with the data from my JRE7 folder.
In this SAPINST folder there is also again the program called SAPINST.
When I now launch this program I get a CMD window that is opened and then the GUI screen is showing. However in this GUI screen SAP is asking for a user and password.
I have tried entering my windows userID and password but that is not accepted.
From the information that I found on SCN or elsewhere I have not seen anyone needing to enter such a password or ID.
Anyone an idea on how I can get this installed? Can I make the SAPINST program to use my installed java version instead of the version that it extracts itself?

After allot of searching and testing I managed to get the application installed.
In the end what did it was that I executed the SAPINST and the program launched with the result of what is mentioned in the first mail.
With this window still open I went into the internet explorer and navigated to the temp directory that the installer created under C:\Users\peter_000\AppData\Local\Temp\.
I copied that whole folder to another folder where I had full rights. I then proceeded to overwrite the SAP version that is in the temp file with the JRE7 version which is installed on my machine. Then I took the whole content of that folder and saved this into the standard extracted folder where the SAPINST.exe program resides and I allowed the system to overwrite all the data. After this I launched the SAPINST.EXE and the install started without any further issues.
