Hi All
We have an internal system of NetWeaver 7.41. Since its initial installation, it had been working well. However, this week, when I tried to logon to the system by SAPGUI, it is always pending on state of waiting for connection, and I saw the state of disp_work.exe as 'Yellow'.
I attached the log dev_disp.
thanks,
Torren

Hello Torren,
Kindly run command "R3trans -d" on application server using "<sid>adm" user and provide the log file which is generated in the same directory.
Thanks,

Hi
I have applied the latest kernel patch, but it does not work.
Actually, I had this issue met before, but it then worked automatically.
and I have checked these two notes, but still does not work.
are there any more trace files that we could refer to? I mean this error messages are too limited.
Hi
Could you refer the SAP Note for your dispatcher issue

Hi Torren,
Did you try checking above SAP note ?
I requested you to ping with hostname, don't use IP address, for hostname to ip resolution.
Execute sappfpar pf= <full path/instance profiles> check
Now, If you have already done the kernel update or revert back the changes you have done on your system before the problem started, I would like to see dev_ms logs for the same.

Divyanshu
Hi Torren
I am seeing no "Network related issue" here since I can see DpCheckMulticast is fine.
DpCheckMulticast: check of IP v4 multicast address o.k.
Since you said, it worked sometime.. is it from same status ?, if so clean stop/start will help.
1) Check DB log full situation or Archiver struck (SQL/ORACLE DB) situation doesn't occur.
Seeing it is on windows, then perform below steps;
2) Check up-time (means last reboot) from below command; restart server from OS level
net statistics server
3) Before restart, Stop instance from MMC, then DB (if not stopped)
4) Stop all services including database related, SAPHostControl and SAPHostExec
6) Log off or restart it (best option ?)
7) Log in again with sidadm, then start all above stopped services, then start instance from MMC, this should work...
😎 If not, can you run below command with sidadm and check if any error for its output.
sappfpar check pf=<instance profile>
9) Attached dev_disp, dev_w0 and output from sappfpar check...

Hi
I highly doubt that it is cause by database related issue, such as log area full.
the DB is MAXDB.
here I found two ways :
1. see knldiag
cannot find this logfile in the installation path
2. open DBMCLI to see if all the active tasks are in state of log full.
I forget the username and password, and cannot continue
do you have any idea about these two questions?

Hi
Have you tried with default user-id/password as control /control , this is possible if the default password is not changed during installation.
Refer, for the general documentation for the respective version;
767598 - Available SAP MaxDB documentation
25591 - Password change for DBM and DBA users
Yes, unknown password issue also able to resolved..., should go thru with bit cautions, refer 1806886 - Resetting passwords

Hi Arunachalam ,
I read and do what is said in 1806886 - Resetting passwords.
However, when in the 7th step:
Set the name and password of the DBM user (the DBM user name is usually CONTROL). To do this, log on to the database as the user SERVICE (the service database always has a user SERVICE with the password SERVICE) and use the DBM command param_directput. After this, switch the database to the operational status ONLINE.
Example:
>dbmcli -d T01 -u SERVICE,SERVICE
param_directput CONTROLUSERID CONTROL
param_directput CONTROLPASSWORD CONTROL
db_online
quit
I found the following issue:
C:\sapdb\MDB\data\config>dbmcli -d MDB -u SERVICE,SERVICE
dbmcli on MDB>param_directput CONTROL USERID CONTROL
ERR
-24979,ERR_XPNOTFOUND: parameter not found
I am doubting that if it is caused by no such userID.
Hi
Need to know few below details;
i) MaxDB version ? - few commands are applicable to specific version.
ii) Is backup configured for Data and log ?, taken a backup anytime in the past ?
iii) Is the below command works ?,
dbmcli -d T01 -u CONTROL, CONTROL
If this works, you can easily configure medium for the backup for log, this will ensure SAP instance will come up. refer http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/MaxDB/HowTo+-+SAP+MaxDB+Backup+with+Database+Manager+CLI
if point iii), not worked, then you need to check for previous oss note 1806886 - Resetting passwords with SAP...

You may have network configuration issue.
Try ti ping your host name and IP localhost ?
Also share dev_icm and dev_w0 logs.
Cheers,
