Hello All,
I have a sap distributed system , the central instance is on windows 2003 and DB instant on windows 2008, I need to move import, export this central instance to OS win 2008.
If it possible to take a system copy only of central instance and importet on Os WIN 2008 and used the same DB instance?
Thanks for any advice
Reza
Hello Reza
You just need to do a homogeneous system copy.
As the CI needs to be moved from a Windows 2003 server to a Windows 2008 server you need to run SWPM/sapinst on the target server and follow the target system installation.
You do not need to do an export and import as there is no change in the DB server.

Hi Reza,
Since you DB is still on the same OS and host, all you have to do is install a new application server as a central instance using system copy methods, stop your old CI with DB, copy host and services file from old OS to new OS, Stop the CI system completely and set the hostname and IP of your new OS system that of your old system.
Install the new application server, sync required contents of /usr/sap/ file system from your old CI to new CI, and start your DB and CI again.
