Hi,
I am trying to import the Business Views from one environment to another.
Source - Production ; Target - Test env. Production has DF pointing to Oracle, Test has Data connection for SQL server. Basically, we need to get the BV from Prod to Test env, change its DF to point to SQL Server and put them back in Production. The CUID should not change.
Steps followed :
1) Exported the BV as XML from source env
2) Imported the BV in target env , preserving the CUID.
My question here is , While exporting from source environment, if I check 'Export security inf' option, what would get exported.
The new environment (Test env ) does not have any groups set up.
If I uncheck 'Export security inf' and after importing in target env and make changes , promoting them back to source (Production) , will I encounter an issue since security info does not match?
Thanks,
Nithya
If you are using Import wizard from BO 3.1 you need to select "Repository objects"
On BI4 and 4.1, export dependencies from Crystal reports objects exported (use LCM in the CMC)
I'm not understanding the procedure that you specy above within XML and export security.

Why do you want to promote just BV alone? While exporting the crystal report, include the dependecies, so it will all the BV related to that report will be moved to destination. You can chnage the credentials on the destination and save.
