Install sap through copy /datafile and oracle binaries

Dear Experts

we have an requirement would like to make an test system without installing sap software but only through copying oracle datafiles and oracle binaries

on windows 2003

we have just windows 2008 os on c:\ with 100 gb

                                                        d:\ with 250 gb empty space
so let me know the copy procedure in c:\ and d:\  which links to be copied

Hi Rajendra,

If your source system and target system are having same OS and  same DB you can consider Homogeneous System Copy by SWPM.

But, if they are different it becomes an OS/DB migration.

In case of installing SAP on your test system you can go with DB refresh. But, simply copying the files will not work as RB said that.

Dear pavan

i have one system which source as well as target it is an test server

my source system and target system are of same OS and db i have offline backup

of source system i have created file system on source system deleting all datafiles

now i would like to restore my offline backup with different sid on  source system again

when i run command  BRRESTORE -b xxxxxxxx.anf -m full -c it copied with same sid only

tell me the steps here how to change to sid while restoring process

that would be grateful to me

Hello

Restoring of the database is not a problem but renaming the system SID on Windows (might be easy) and this is the reason why I suggested you to do a system copy.

You can also do a system rename using the system rename option of the SWPM.

This will definitely work on Unix/Linux platforms.

Copying the binaries from the source to target on a Windows will not create the registry entries and the Oracle and SAP services.

This method is not supported by SAP.

You should consider doing a Homogeneous system copy.
