Lot Size Configuration in APO system

Hi Team,

In SAP R/3 system, we have standard lot size like EX, WB etc. Based on my requirement, i need to customize the some new lot size like "ZR". I was thinking that since my entire planning is being carried out in APO system, i will just create the new lot size "ZR" (might be dummy lot size in R/3) by copying from the lot size "EX". Then i will CIF the material master with lot size "ZR". Is it possible to customize the lot size "ZR" (as per my requirement) in APO system?

Is it OK, if we have different customization setting for the lot size "ZR" between R/3 & APO system? Because of this, will material master CIF have issue?

Hi Sugan,

APO does not use Lot Sizes as ECC.

The product master in APO set the lot size in a different way. When in ECC you have a key that consolidate your lot size requirements, in APO can see directly what procedure will be followed in the planning run:

For example, if you transfer a ECC material with lot size WB, in APO you will see the following setup:

So you can create a new lot size in ECC and APO will get the information when the product is created.

Hi Mariano,

Thank you for the information. So based on the lot size configuration in ECC, the "Lot Size" screen in APO (above screen of your reply) will be set. And we can NOT configure lot size in APO directly. am i right?

My requirement is:

The month is split into two periods as below.

Period 1: From 1st day of the month till 20th of the month

Period 2: From 21st of the month till the end of the month.

Whatever the requirements falls within the "period 1", the planning proposals to be generated on 1st day of that month.

Whatever the requirements falls within the "period 2", the planning proposals to be generated on 21st day of that month.

How to set this in ECC in lot size configuration (T.code: OMI4)?

Hi Sugan,

You can maintain plannig calendars for this request in ECC and in APO.

If you want more detail about planning calendars, please make a new search and if there is no thread, open a new one and close this one by selecting the correct answer if you agree.

Hi Sugan,

You cannot set that in ECC, but you can use the "period Factor" in the lot size tab ( Quantity and date determination) , the proposals would be generated accordingly.

You also need to specify which engine you are using.

Each engine uses different lot size rules.

Hi Sugan,

You wanted the Proposals to be generated on the 1st (Period 1) and 21st (periiod 2) of every month, THis is only possible in APO by setting the "period Factor" while having your planning calender set for 2 periods in a month.

Period factor controls availability date and time of the receipts within a period. the factor is between 0 and 1, where 0 is the start of the period, 1 is the end of the period and 0.5 is the middle.
