DS 1.6 Export to Excel Fails When No Data

Hello Experts,

I have a Design Studio 1.6 application that uses a tabstrip with each tab containing a Navigation Panel and Crosstab bound to a unique Data Source (BEx query). Each of the 5 Data Sources are set to Load in Script and the script is in on_startup.

The standard function "APPLICATION.export(ExportType.EXCEL_xlsx);" works for 4 of the Data Sources, but the 5th one throws an error: MissingResource for class com.sap.ip.bi.export.office.impl.excel2007.MsExcel2007Converter, key: MsEx [...]. The only difference in this Data Source is that it returns no data for the given criteria in Dev.

Has anyone else noticed that export to excel fails when used on a Data Source with no data? If so this seems to be a bug in the software.

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Tammy,

Sorry for my delay; I didn't see a notification of your response.

We are on 1.6 SP2; I'll ask our administrator about upgrading to SP4 and report back.

Thanks,

Michael

When I have no data, it still lets me download to Excel and in the spreadsheet it says "

Could not find any data to display. This might be due to the current selection of variable or filter values

I am on 1.6 SP4 - which version are you using?

Yes I get the same error if crosstab does not have data, and we try to export:

I get:

MissingResource for class com.sap.ip.bi.export.office.impl.excel2007.MsExcel2007Converter

Is there any solution to avoid it?

Sarthak, which version of Design Studio are you on? SAP ended up supplying Note 2533282 which fixed my issue and is part of Design Studio 1.6 Support Package 6 Patch 2.

Regards,

Michael

Mine is Design Studio 1.6 Support Package 2 Patch1, Maybe this is the reason!

I have to check DS.isResultSetEmpty() before export
