"Numbers stored as text" error in Excel when I schedule a report

Former Member

Dear all,

When I schedule a report, I got a "Numbers stored as text" error in Excel.

But when I save as xls directly from webI, I have no error in the excel sheet.

So, is it a bug ? I have the BO XI 4.0 version.

Or is there a special option to set concerning schedule ?

Mike.

Hi,

First check the object data type in webi. Normally this error will come when  object/variable data type is Text in the report.

If you are getting this error with object data type number then  add 0 in the object and see.

Like  =[Object] + 0

It will force the value to be converted in the number.

Hi,

I have already done it but the problem really comes from the schedule not from webI.

Hi Patrice,

Check if the Number format has been enforced under 'Format Cell' in Webi on the column giving error.

Hi Yuvraj,

I have already ckecked and it 's a number format. I think it's bug. So I search to modify now the export excel file with a vbscript but I have a problem to export xls file in a folder of BOE. It's the discussion we have together on an other thread.

Best regards,

Mike.

Hi Patrice,

Are you expecting same formatting in Excel as in Webi Or are you exporting the excel just to use the data?

If are not concerned about the formatting, you can try following the below steps:

1. Log on to InfoView.

2. On the InfoView toolbar, click Preferences.

The "Preferences" page appears.

3. Click the Web Intelligence tab.

4. In the "Select the priority option for saving a MS Excel" area, select the

option that best fits your needs:

   • Choose Prioritize easy data processing in Excel.

NOTE: Above steps are for BO XI 3.1. The workflow might change for BO XI 4.x.

Hi Yuvraj,

I have already checked it but it hasn't corrected my problem.

I have definitively created a vbscript to correct the format problem after exporting.

Best regards,

Mike.

Thanks Amer. I have already read this thread and I have exactly the same problem.

But I don't want to install SP only for it.

I would like to modify the xls file in OutputFileStore after execution with adding Event File like vb script in the schedule report.

The problem is that I don't know where I can store this vbs event file.

Maybe is there an expert about Event File in BO ?

I read this thread but it is not exactly what I want :

Adding a file event

In XI3.x at least, you can import Program Objects into the BO Repository and interact with them like any other content. It sounds like what you want to do is schedule the report and use an event to initiate a scheduled run of the program object (vbs script) after the report has run? This is possible - check your platform admin guide for further information, specifically the sections on Program Objects and Event based scheduling.
