Hello Raul

You can expand and collapse hierarchies in a chart by menu options when you right-click on a member on the chart axis or in the legend.

However this is only possible if the chart is an "analysis".

Typically charts are a "sub-analysis" of a crosstab and in this scenario the chart display is driven directly from the linked crosstab.

To make a chart sub-analysis into an "analysis", click on the chart and in the "Display" tab click on "Unlink sub-analysis". The chart will now become its own "analysis" and can be navigated freely using the previously mentioned context-menus on the member in the axis and legend.

Dear Sir,

Thank u for your suggestion but i did that but it appears all hierarchy from level 1 to last level so it does not look good in reporting. Can it possible that expand level 1 then it will display level 2 data and so on...

Hello Raul

This is odd. Have a look at the screen shots below. I start at the top level "WORLD".

I right-click on "WORLD" and choose "Expand". This gives me the second screen shot.

I then right-click on "NORTH AMERICA" and choose "Expand". This gives me the third screenshot.

As you can see, levels are expanded one-at-a-time. The only thing I can think of is that the BW query has been set up to drill down automatically to a particular level.

Dear Sir,

If i right click on world and expand then it should display only next hierarchy 2nd level data, not included 1st level data also and if i expand on 2nd level level then it should display 3rd level hierarchy data, not included 1st level and 2nd level data. that's possible  or not in graph ?

Hi RS

Thanks for the clarification.

The chart behaves in exactly the same way as the crosstab.

In my previous example, I drilled into North America to reveal USA and Canada... but all the other parent fields are visible.

If you don't want to see these then you would right-click on "North America" and choose "Keep". This will keep North America and all child members but remove all other branches in the hierarchy.

If you just want to see the child USA and Canada members and not the parent North America member, then in the Layout Panel on the left hand side, right click on the hierarchy and choose the "Show Levels" option. Toggle off the hierarchy level you do not want to see.

Hope this helps.
