AIAB Distribution Rule for Settlement Error, "Asset cannot settle to itself"

Hello Everyone,

I have a customer who is getting the "asset cannot settle to itself" error when trying to set up a distribution rule to settle the remaining items of a Line Item Managed AUC to multiple Assets. The Asset numbers and AUC number do NOT match. Here are the steps that have been followed.

  • Created an Internal Order, #2000####. (1998)
  • Created the AuC asset. #600####(2011)
  • Created Settlement Rule (Sender – Internal Order, Receiver - AUC) (2011
  • Settle Internal Order to AUC.
  • Create Assets. (2014). #900###1 - #900##99 etc.
  • Create Settlement Rule (Sender – AUC, Receiver – Multiple Assets) This is where my customer gets the error.

They were able to settle other items from this AuC to Assets last October. It seems very strange to me that the Internal Order was created in 1998 and the AUC was created in 2011 but as I said, this was working at least last October and possibly in March of this year.

Thanks for you help.

Rick

      Hello Deepanshu,

I looked at the nine assets that my customer is trying to settle the AuC to and there doesn't seem to be anything odd about them. In the Time Dependent tab the Internal order is referenced. What should I be checking for?

      Thanks,

      Rick

    • Hello Rick:

      Thank you for your response.

We were working on numerous assets (to correct posting errors) that had been previously settled and only this particular one has issue. Anyway, we found a work around by creating a sub-number. We moved the costs from main asset to the sub-number and settled from the sub-number. That resolved the problem.

I much appreciate you taking your time to answer my answer among your busy schedule.

      Best wishes!

    Hi,

You can make the 'error message' to 'warning message' through Tcode OBA5 and proceed with the transaction. We have done the same and it is working fine.

To analyse the error, while maintaining the settlement rule in AIAB, click on Group List(F5), there you will see that you have settled to the same asset earlier i.e. sender and receiver is the same and now after upgrade it is showing as error.

It is mostly probably an upgrade issue.

    Regards,

    Ramnik
