Is VMware converter to clone SAP systems supported?

Hi all,

Please find bellow a quick question regarding VMware converter.

I'm on the process to virtualize our complete physical SAP systems with VMware converter. Even when I'm aware this technically possible and VMware is supported as Virtualization tool, I was not able to find some SAP note or document where confirm this process is supported by SAP. Is this process fully approved by SAP or some restriction exist?

Thanks and regards

    Hi,

SAP has no separate support statement for any tool doing physical to virtual convertions, because this is in the partners responsibility.

As mentioned in section 5 of SAP Note 1409608, SAP cannot test its applications with every tool provided by the partner, but as VMware vCenter Converter is supported by VMware, you get support from VMware during the convertion. If you do nothing which contradicts the application's configuration requirements (like changing the hostname), the SAP application will come up and then SAP support starts...

    Best regards, Claudia
