BAPI_PO_CREATE1 EXTENSIONIN Prevents PO message generation

Hi All,

I am developing an ABAP program that will convert purchase requisitions into purchase orders via BAPI_PO_CREATE1. I have 2 custom header fields on the PO that need to be populated during the conversion. I am passing the custom values to the BAPI in the EXTESNIONIN table via the BAPI_TE_MEPOHEADER structure.

With my current code, the PO is created successfully and the custom fields are updated. However, when I pass the EXTENSIONIN table to the BAPI, no messages are generated for the PO--I cannot use the print preview functionality to display the PO PDF, because there is no output type.

If I do not pass the EXTENSIONIN table, then the PO is still successfully created AND the standard PO output type message is generated--I am able to use the print preview functionality to display the PO PDF. However, my custom header fields are obviously not populated.

I am not sure what is causing this issue, but I have seen several posts that reference OSS note 143580, which claims that BAPI header extension structures should only have character fields. In addition, I've also seen a post that claims date fields (DATS) are OK. We have enhanced BAPI_TE_MEPOHEADER to include one custom field of type ERDAT (DATS, 8). I am NOT populating this value in my program--only character fields.

What is causing this issue? Is there a way to pass the EXTENSIONIN table to the BAPI with our structure defined as-is AND generate the PO output message?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi

You should check the formula perhaps there's a custom control in order to avoid the print

    • Hi Max,

Procedures. Thanks for the hint about NACE->Procedures. It looks like there could be a procedure set up that pertains to the custom fields I am trying to populate. I don't understand how a procedure affects the message determination, though, so I'll need to do some investigation and testing to confirm.

I will update this post accordingly following my testing.

      Thanks, again!
