SAP license woes

Former Member

Hi-

I can't seem to get this NW4 Demo license to last longer than a couple weeks. Although it says it will expire 2-16-2006, it keeps locking up the "developer" account (and giving some license check error), whereas the sap* account always works. Anyway, my sap license administration has two installed license. One is a temp license with a "red" State code, the other a license with a valid looking hardware key with a "green" State code. I can't seem to figure out how to make the developer login last longer than two weeks. Does anyone know how to make a developer login last longer than two weeks!?

Also, what is the developer access key? How do I get one?

Thanks-

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

After you install NW4 Demo version, in order to do the regular development activities you need a 'Developer key'.

This developer key will be issued by sap, and will register the user as a developer in the system.

Raj

Are you talking about the Sneak Preview WAS 6.40 ABAP? If so, use this as the developer key.

Okay, I removed the two licenses, requested a new key (it gave a different hardware key - somehow my hardware key got changed!) and installed a new license. Where do I put the number you just gave me into SAP? What is the transaction code you use to enter a developer key? Thanks.

This is for the NSP ABAP system, right? If so, go to SE38, enter a program name like "ZRICH_0001" and click create, there it will ask you for a developer key.

Do I even have the right installation? It never asks me for a developer key when I create a program... only when I try to modify objects already in the system (for example, changing a demo_xxx program)

So I went to se38 and tried to change DEMO_DYNPRO, at which time it asked me for an access key. I entered the key Rich gave me above, but it does not allow access (it says incorrect entry or something). I do not understand why the developer account keeps locking out after a couple weeks.

I don't think, Check the Table <b>DEVACCESS</b> to find weather you have access key already attched or not...

if not then you don't have authorizations to do.

else you already have.

You can not use the Developer key that I provided to register an object. When trying to change existing objects it will ask you for the registration key of the object. That is different from a developer key. Why are you trying to change standard programs, copy them into "Z" versions instead.

Yeah, the developer account has an associated access key. I just want to know why my hardware key got changed, which in turn messed up my license, which made it so I had to reinstall a new license.

Did you add more memory to your machine?

Don't know if that would do it or not.
