Best Practice to Export Solman Customer Data to a new one

Hi Solman experts,

We are facing a new project to move a huge Solution Manager VAR Scenario to a new one server, the biggest problems is system landscape from customer data (LMDB) and incident management customer data (ITSM), also mopz, ewa and sap service delivery that has request from customers to SAP and is Stored in solution Manager.

The information that we have to export to a new Solution Manager is:

Customers: +300 aprox.

Systems: +900 aprox.

- Solution Manager Configuration "Managed system Setup" for around +900 productive systems.

- Customer data in LMDB and SMSY ( product systems, tech.systems, logical components, solutions, etc... ).

- VAR Scenario data from: ITSM (with communication with SAP).

- VAR Scenario data from: Mopz, ewa, Sap engagement and service delivery, Solution Documentation.

We decided to do that to user a flesh installation of Solution Manager SP11 with better system resources, better than migrate our existing one.

What do you think that is the best way to migrate customer data from a SAP Solution Manager SP08  to a new server with SAP Solution Manager SP11 ?

Thanks,

Lluis

Hi Lluis,

Unfortunately your all requirements can't be met for data transfer from one solman to another

as all the data transfer is not possible for e.g. you can't transfer the ticket from one system to another  of solman but you can import or transfer entire Solution Documentation from one solman to another

below a good guide for your reference

1810686 - How to transfer content between SAP Solution Manager systems

thus you need to decide based upon scenario

Thanks Prakhar, that will be hard ...

I forgot that SAP Note, I check it again but is not really helpfully for a VAR scenario.

The real problem is not only customer Data, is the setup of the each requirements, SLD-LMDB-SMSY-RFC's-etc...

Thanks,

Lluis

Hi lluis,

I understand but actually this is not only for VAR but applicable to general scenario as well.....where you have multiple systems of solman like dev qa and prod.

you can configure ITSM in Dev and transport the settings but then again you can't capture the many master data changes in a Transport Request.

another way is to do a system copy and then upgrade to SP11 so this way you can have all the data intact avoiding huge manual effort.

all the best

Hi Prakhar,

One reason that we don't the system copy and then upgrade it is because one of our systems come from old 701, and the upgrade to 7.1 give us to much problems from the amount of data in old smsy(701) that we don't on flesh installations.

So our current situation is:

- Upgrade and old solman 700 -> 701 -> 7.1 to last SP dragging data inconsistencies.

- Export / import setup and customer data to the new Solution Manager.

I will try to update our progression on that forum.

Hi, I found something interesting while searching for planned date for SP12...

In that Document:

https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001435482012E.pdf

On the last page there is a mention to "mass setup configuration " that tell us somethink like:

"...Managed system “to be” configuration can be managed by a .XML file without user interaction in

managed system setup for each system separately..."

That could be great for everyone, and a solution to my current problem on a huge VAR scenario.

Anyone have more information about that ?
