High Response after system restart

Hi All,

I've performed fine tuning in ST02 and currently I have zero swaps or paging in ST02 which seems to be fine.

But whenever I restart the system, it takes long time to load any transaction for the first time which for sure seems to be the time

taken for the request to load to the buffers.

Even opening the initial login screen for the first time takes more than 30secs but later it will come in 1 sec which is the same with the transactions also.

Could you kindly help me to reduce this response time by giving valuable inputs.

Thanks and regards,

Nikhil

Hi,

After many analysis and monitoring, I just re-tuned the sap buffers coz big values increases the system response initially and even getting the initial login screen.

Hi Nikhil,

It will take some time to fill up SAP buffers after restart , only thing you can do is avoid frequent restart of SAP system.

Hi Gagan,

Yeah, it will take some time after restart, but what I was thinking is, is there a way to reduce this response time by some settings to SAP parameters or OS settings.

Currently I'm getting high response time which might not be accepted and we are in implementation phase. The response time some times go upto 1min initially after restart but the next runs are really fast

Thanks and regards,

Hi Nikhil,

I got your point  but i really dont see any such parameter available which will fill up buffer for you in SAP level . As it really depends on customer tx .

Its valid for both DB as well as SAP buffers

Hi Gagan,

Yeah, I was also thinking in same manner.

But to be specific, is there any settings related to DB or OS i/o can bring improvement in response times?

Thanks and regards,

Hello,

try to run SGEN transaction, the best you run it for all components. It will regenerate all programs. But SGEN is used mainly after kernel patch or SAP upgrade.

By the way, what do you exactly mean by "fine tuning ST02"?

Hi Kamil Vesely,

It is not related to SGEN as the slowness/or response time is the time taken for the program to load to buffers.
