Product category could not be identifed uniquely

Hello Everyone,

While trying to enter product category with out using F4 help i am getting error "Product category could not be identified uniquely" BBP_PD273.

As there are two product categories for the same name i.e. one which is created locally (srm) and other which is replicated from ECC(material group).

So how to restrict this error is there any BADI or NOTE please help.

Hello,

This is the expected behaviour.
Since there is more than one logical system assigned to the same product category (see table COMM_CATEGORY), the usage of search help is mandatory.
Read note 1890951, that explains this.

Hi Ricardo,

Many thanks for your reply, I have gone through the notes which you have provided , But we have maintained data properly (i.e.with correct master data),There are two systems involved for the product category  (i.e. srm,ecc) ,as a result system is not able to pick a unique category,Then from the notes it is understood that there is no soution for this type of error(except to select category from Search help F4).
