Hi Prag,

Can you be more clear on what reporting tools you want to report on ? And why do you want avoid the creation of information views in HANA?

I don't want to avoid the creation of information views . Actually i want to know that weather the tools which use universe for consuming data models  for Ex:- WI and crystal reports . Can these reporting tools access data from HANA  DB directly  without semantic layer in middle .

Hi,

Webi and Crystal reporting tools access the data from HANA DB with Semantic Layer(Universe UNX) by consuming HANA data models to create UNX universe in BO 4.0 using the SQL interfaces(JDBC & ODBC).

Hello Ravi

This thing i know that Webi and Crystal reporting tools access the data from HANA DB with Semantic Layer(Universe UNX) by consuming HANA data models to create UNX universe in BO 4.0 using the SQL interfaces(JDBC & ODBC). But my question is  can these reporting tools access the  data models without using UNIX universe and directly from HANA DB .

Crystal can go directly and so avoid a universe. It was originally designed as a stand along and the universe was a resent addition.

I'm pretty certain WEBI can't bypass the universe. It was always designed to work on a universe.

I'm also pretty sure Analysis does not even have an option to use a Universe.

Have a look at slide #9 in this deck
