Two notifications attached to single work order

Former Member

Hi..

I have a scenario where two notifications are attached to single PM work order. The user created two notifications for the same functional location and created a work order for the first notification using IW34. Now this work order has both the notification attached to it and in the change log of the notifications, i can see the order was attached to both notifications on the same time.

If someone could provide a valid explanation, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Greetings Mina,

It's perfectly possible to create an Order for multiple Notifications, although only one Notification can be assigned to the Order header. The additional assignments are through the Object tab, as Jogeswara Rao Kavala observed.

It is a valid scenario, for example:

- two operations workers report two Notifications in different objects, which have the same root cause and will be fixed by the same maintenance work (for instance, no medium in the piping along the installation can be because a particular pump that feeds the piping is malfunctioning)

...or

- the same fault is independently reported on multiple Notifications (for example, operator on the 2nd shift registers a Notification for the pump; then on the 3rd shift the other operator registers the same fault, not having noticed there's one Notification already; on the day shift, the Maintenance supervisor sees the 2 Notifications and creates a common order for both).

This allows you to better track Notifications against the Orders that are resolving them.

It is possible to do this in several ways:

- in IW22 by the menu option "Assign order"

- in IW28 by selecting many Notifications on the ALV list and selecting "Create Order" icon

- in IW32 from the Order object tab

Mina,

Go to the Objects Tab of the Order. You will find the other Notification/s.

Next

If you have Notification list to be assigned to a single order it is possible. Go to IW28 select few lines (Notifications) --> Go to Menu Notification --> Assign Order --> Give the Order number.

This way your list of Notifications will have one Order assigned and you will see all these Notifications in Objects tab.

Appreciate your help Jogeswara Rao.

But could there be any explanation, how both notifications attached to the order at the same time ?

(In the change log, both notifications show the IW34 transaction and the same work order number at the same time)

I'll try to explain one application.

Customer creates Notifications out of the Maintenance needs observed during Inspections or reports from operational sources. These are the lines of IW28. For executing some of these (like all belong to a Planner Group etc) through a single Order, we create an Order and assign these Notifications to that Order.

Then inside Order you can maintain Order details the line item-wise of Notifications present in Objects.

Like-wise more such applications will be there. This is an info.

You may experience this by playing in test servers.

The IW34 is the Order creation for Notification transaction; If you see this in your log, then the Notifications must have been assigned to the Order via the Object tab on creation, or created from the list. When the Order was saved, the change records were created at the same time.
