How to create a new company in our existing license

Hi experts,

I am checking on the possibility of adding a new company in our existing license. As our company is about to split into two according to the needs of our investors, I wanted to check if it is possible to have two companies using our current license or is it mandatory to have two separate licenses for the login? how about database? Even database also should be separated I guess right? Look forward to hear from you all.
