If you are running the reports from portal; and authorization has been setup, there should have been assigned with some roles. There should be some list of folders, for example if you want to run the report for expense summery, it should be something like 'finance' folder in your list. just go there and find the appropriate report and double click on it. It will populate the variable entry screen where you give the name of the variables that you want to run the report for. The free chars should shows in the top of the reports and according the design of the query ..you should be able to drill down with those chars. Just click on it and you will see many options like drill down, horizentally, vertically, swap with, display...just play around you would get more confidents.
