hi,

In oracle the character length is 100 (varchar 100) and the data stored is 10 char only say(abcdefghij) . will the infoobject with length char 10 accepts the data from oracle or we have to create the object with 100 characters length...

As we are in the designing phase we have to freeze this asap and start developing....

any help will be appreciated

thanks in advance..

Hi Milinda,

If all 100 chars in Oracle are needed in BW, you may use 2 infoobjects to store this info.

Remember, that you can store info in the long texts of the infoobjects. In transfer structure where you must have IOs with maximum length (60 chars) you can use SAP std IOs:

hi,

infoobject with char 10 should be ok, to make sure you may create view in oracle and truncate to 10 char first.

bw max length is 60 char, there is workaround to have > 60.
