Hi SAP administrator, need your help.

One of our customer get an error in Web Intelligence when querying reports, this error occurs in several objects which has lead our product out of service for almost 4 months, it's urgent, could you help?

When they run the query for the report they get an error in Web Intelligence .

This error may be two types. And their rotation occurs randomly.

First error: The Web

Intelligence server memory is full. Please log off and try to connect

later. If the problem persists, contact your Business Objects

administrator. (WIS 30280)

Second error: The Web

Intelligence server is busy. Please save any pending change and try again

later. If the problem persists, contact your BusinessObjects administrator.

(Error: ERR_WIS_30284)

They have tried many approaches, but all have no any results and get error again.

- made changes in the processes parameters to better help its memory management.

- “clone” that process(server), such that an additional process is running that will (sort of) double the memory the users will be able to use for running reports.

- Increase the memory heap size value.

This query select data from huge table (~6 million rows), and when using limit for specified filter in WEBI, the report working correctly.

Is there any way to solve these problems associated with large data? What is invoke this problem when BOE try to get full data?

The Business Objects Enterprise used version is : 12.6.0.1596

Is there other input info need us to provide to help resolve this issue?

Please contact maria.hou@alcatel-lucent.com or edward_b.zhang@nokia.com

Thanks.

Maria

What is the reporting database?

Is this happening with all reports or some specfic report

Hi Amit,

This happens on specific reports not all.

Our BOE analysis two databases data, one is located in same server with BOE, the other one is remote connection. For remote database, we create database view link on local database.

Both the database are Oracle 12.1.0.1.

- OK to analysis local database data.

- OK to analysis remote database data which size < 1 million

- NOK to analysis remote database data which size > 3 million

Check attached sap note if you haven't seen.Even you are on BO 3.1 low version.Better to upgrade to latest version and check.

1989739 - Very large Web Intelligence reports throw “Memory Full” errors when viewing after upgrading that previously opened within a few minutes: Web Intelligence server memory full (WIS 30280)(Error: INF )

As I said in my previous post BO 3.1 is quiet low version. SAP only providing priority support this version now.

You need to go with latest version which is BI4.2 benefit of this is there are quite few differences between BO 3.1 and BI 4.x.Like architecture wise.BO 3.1 is 32 bit and BI 4.x is 64 bit and more capable of handling these type of request.

For short term solution if you have issue with one specific report only and then you can add multiple filter in webi to restrict the records count and same thing you can explain to users about additional filters.

Amit,

Thanks your help, but can you guarantee that upgrade can solve our customer's error issue?

They mentioned that BO 3.1 has worked in the past years, how can we convince them to upgrade? What's the root cause?

Thanks

If it worked last year then have you checked mentioned SAP Note 1989739?

SAP mentioned in the note this issue occurred in SP06 after upgrade? Have you upgraded the BO in last one year?

For the root cause or why, rasie a support ticket with SAP and they will come back to you.
