ICMAN Service is not active

Former Member

I have following problem, everytime I test a service, f.e.: BEx, in transaction SICF I got the comment: ICMAN Service is not active.

But in SICF everything is active, also at the OS ICMAN is running. Does anybody have an idea?

Best regardes Peter

Hi Peter,

make sure that you have at least a HTTP service defined and active. You can check this by calling transaction smicm and then click on the "Services" button (the yellow and red one). It is important that HTTP and/or HTTPS are there and active.

Hi Peter,

at this point I can only guess that some more ICM parameters are missing. Please have a look at the ICM documentation:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/b8/2a8d65be7eee4eb66067f8a33d1c8b/frameset.htm

At the bottom of this page is also a topic for the error search.

Hi Peter,

have you entered them in the instance profile?

You have in your profile something like:

icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP, PORT=1080

and after the restart no HTTP service is defined?

Hi Rainer,

I have got icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP, PORT=1080, EXTBIND=1 in the instance profile. And if I restart the HTTP services are not defined.

Hi Peter,

you have to set the profile parameter icm/server_port_<xx> correctly. Please have a look at the documentation:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/25/7e153a1a5b4c2de10000000a114084/frameset.htm

Hi Rainer,

the profile parameter icm/server_port seems okay, but if the SAP System restart, the services are lost and I have to set them manually in transaction SMICM.

Hi Peter,

Welcome to SDN.

Is the default_host node is also active?

Did you check in transaction SMICM whether the ICMAN is running.

Hi Raja,

yes, the default_host node is active, in transaction SMICM the ICM is running and everything seems fine. But if I test a service: ICMAN Service is not active
