Prompt value as filtering criteria in BEX/WAD

Hi,

I am quite a newbie in these staff, so please bare with me here.

I am trying to build a web page in WAD or other tool that will prompt the end user for a sold-to party name (or a part of it - eg all sold-to-party starting with G) and then run a predefined query using the data the end user entered as a filtering criteria (like a sort of variable).

Is there a way to accomplish this requirement in BW?

Can you refer me to a Javascript reference for BW?

Any ideas?

hi,

if i didn't misunderstand your requirement, you can use web item 'table' in webtemplate, then choose this table with infoprovider/query where the query has variable for soldto, mark the webtemplate property for 'force variable screen display', test with button 'execute in web browser'. it should prompt selection for soldto party.

for javascript in bw reference, there is 'web api reference', for bw 3.5 see page 237 'use of javascript functions'

What i actually meant is display the prompt in a normal web page and be able to search the sold-to not only by its full name but by the a part of its name.

Ideas?
