correcting idoc error - The current version has already been processed

I have an order with a failed idoc - the first time the idoc failed, it had a fluke error message and should have been possible to reprocess after status resets were done.

However, when the user when to reprocess the idoc, it began returning the message
VG(209) : The current version has already been processed

But the idoc is still failed/the order is still not correct, and I cannot find any other idoc number that has 'overtaken' the previous one.

Can anyone help advise how to correct this issue? The long text indicates a more recent version of the change exists, but I cannot find any indocation of that.
