I/E default in specification type (SAP EHS)

could someone please explain the significance of I/E default while creating Specification type in SAP EHS?

I can only imagine what you are interested in; may be post picture of IMG activity so it is clearer what you are looking for: But you can do a EHS set up in such a way that during the creation of a new specification a "default" specification type is used. In most cases this option is nut used. But it is an option to use

Hi Prasad,

When you define a specification type, you can mark the specification type as default specification type which will be used during specification data transfer between different SAP systems using import/export data transfer method.

When you export the specification, the contents of the specification is written into a file. The file is then manually copied into the target system and it is read by the system while executing "Import Specifications" transaction (CG33).

If the specification type is missing from the transfer file, then the SAP System assigns the imported specification with the specification type defined as a default.

You can see the default specification type in "Parameter" section of "Import Specifications" transaction (CG33).

Please note that only one specification type can be set as I/E default.

we never have used this flag. As explained in detail by Kannan it is used only in the context of "import and Expert". And in most cases you will prepare an import file in which the specification type is defined. And in daily business normally no import is used. IMport is used in most cases of e.g. you do a "primary set up of EHS data" and you would like to "move" data from your old EHS system to SAP

if you click on flag "'label relevant" and use F1 helpy ou get good explanation by SAP. In any case: if i remember correct it is related to the management of material/specification link which need to be considered during the label management process in SAP EHS,
