Hi,
I'm trying to extract data with the help of Business Contents for FI & SD but unable to do so as I'm missing some steps in b/w, so anyone can help me out with the step-by-step solution?
Your help will be highly appreciable.
Regards,
Jim
Hi Jim,
first of all, go to your source system and try to an extraction check in RSA3 transaction...
Then let us know the datasource you are using and the exact (error?) message you are receiving...
Hope it helps!
Bye,
Roberto

Hi Roberto,
I'm looking just for all the steps required to do the extraction with Business Contents in proper order, so tht I can try it out. I have worked not worked a lot on BC.
I am not receiving any error but unable to collect all the steps.
Can you pls send me the steps from initial stage till end of the process?
Regards,
Jim
Dear,
I cannot give you these steps, since there are specific task that are not valid for everything..
Anyway, first of all you have to do the activation activity (installation) on source system side (RSA5/RSA6); then you can replicate datasource in your BW and link it to an infosource (or installing all the related business content...)

...please don't forget to reward the answers...it's THE way to say thanks in SDN !
Hi,
Ok, no issues.... what I did on R/3 side is....
1. Activate DataSource
2. Maintain Extract Structure
(you cannot create new Extract Structures!)
3. Generate DataSource / Repl. DataSource
4. Activate Extract Structure
5. Delete Setup tables
6. Check Extractor Update
7. Perform Extractor Setup
8. Define periodic V3 update jobs
. Create InfoPackage in BW for initialization
.. Create InfoPackage in BW for periodic Delta
9. Delete Initialization Table LBWG
Now what I'm missing on R/3 side and what to be done on BW side?
Hi,
Every thing is ok .But it seems you have deleted the setup table contents before uploading the data to BW.
So
1) clear the entries in LBWQ by executing the back ground job From LBWE.
2) For time being stop periodic V3 update jobs.
3) Fill the setup table
4) Execute the info package with full or delta initialization.
5) delete the setup table (it is not neccesary , unless you want ot fill the setup table one more time)

Jim,
*point 6 is not relevant if you don't have your setup tbales filled
*you cannot create an infopackage for periodic delta (as in point 😎 if you don't perform a successful initialization before
*before doing point 9 you have to do a succesful init
in BW you need to install what you need from business content and simply start the loading process !
Hope now is clearer...
Bye,
Roberto
Setup tables are relevant only in logistic cockpit extraction datasources...
In this mechanism, you have to use these tables to take data during full or initial loads (by this way, the extraction pgm doesn't have to access the application tables during your init...).
You have to delete the content before doing the init in order to avoid that some old setup records already in your tables might create duplicates in your load (you already have some records and, with a new job, you load it again!)
Hope now is clearer...
Bye,
ROberto
