Hi All,
We have an customer in India using SAP B1 8.82 who will be having some operations in China shortly though not production activities, but only sales activities.
For this reason they would be looking to use Sales module in China.
Subsequently transactions and printing the Orders,Invoices in PLD will be taken by users .
Since all the data will be maintained in India and it is in English localization, for users in China it will be set to Chinese language .
The customer is looking for display of Chinese data as mentioned below in transaction and reports:
1.) Is it possible in SAP B1 to display data(Item,Business partner etc..) in Chinese language by automatic conversion when the language is set in Chinese.
2.) Is it possible to print PLD report in Chinese by automatically converting the data in PLD to Chinese since all masters are maintained in English.
We have tried with below settings for Chinese language defaults:
1. Multi language support in Company details.
2. Business partner partner Language settings in General tab.
3. In report and layout manager, set the language in Chinese.
4. Set for user defaults to Chinese.
But it seems there seems to be no automatic conversion either in data on transaction screen nor in PLD print. Only the labels are shown in Chinese.
There is an option to have translated language for different fields in masters. But setting everything manually for large data will be quite a tedious job.
Also when we use the translated field in transaction like SO , it doesn't allow to modify field example: Item description unlike when it is in default language i.e. English where we can edit Item description field within SO.
Can anyone help in this matter or guide us in achieving the requirement as mentioned above.
SAP version: 8.82 PL 11.
Regards,
Bharath
Hi Bharath,
We had almost the same situation as you described.
There is no possible to auto translated the data/records in SAP.
Just make a plan to assign users to make translation to Chinese, probably the translation apply to description only, this is what we did.
Or train user to get familiar with English.
For the PLD, we had created both English and Chinese, and set default based on BP & User.
Thanks

Hi All,
Can anyone let me know if they have been using PLD report in language apart from English, and how could it be achieved to print so even when data are in English within SAP B1.

Bharath

Hi,
Thanks for sending the SAP Notes.
Yes i did check it, but if i read it right it is mentioned that there is no automatic translation of master data even when multi language flag is activated at company level. Though the SAP Notes is specifically highlighting w.r.t COA setup in foreign language.
I was looking for any possibility if we could get master data translated automatically to foreign language when we setup foreign language as default for specific users as mentioned in my previous mail so that the transaction data and PLD's can be viewed in that language since currently only the labels are in the foreign language. Also the volume of data to translate manually would be large.

Bharath
Hi Gordon,
Thanks for the suggestion. Can you please let me know how in Canada they are maintaining 2nd PLD in French language as report printing. And does the print report data shown in French altogether?
Since i assume that their base language and all data in SAP B1 will be entered in English.
Regards,
Bharath
Hi,
Please refer SAP notes even though not related to above version:
1017441 - Display of SAP Business One in different languages
1378433 - Multilanguage functionality does not cover CoA
Thanks & Regards,
