The Systems Did Not Find a Valid Bill Of Material

Hi Everyone,

when creating a sales order - with a sales bom we encounter the following message - 'The Systems Did Not Find a Valid Bil Of Material'. If anyone has encounter such a message before appreciate of you can help to shed some light. Below is the settings which I have set-up in our systems.

- When creating sales order the following error appears 'The systems did not find a valid bill of material'.

- Detail of the error message

- The item category TAQ having the field structure scope - A & Application - SD01.

I truly appreciate both your feedback as the systems which I am currently working have most of the setings either wipe off or gone for good. I may have ask some basic questions .. however please do not misunderstand me as the situation i am currently in is really in a fixed (as I have receive some sarcastic remarks).

I have done the checking and made the corrections as per your advice, however i am still encountering the same message which says no valid BOM.

Is this material ZL304351-001HP is header item or sub-item???

As mentioned for Header--ERLA and for Sub-item--NORM has to be there as item category group in your MMR at Sales: sales org 2 view...

Pl confirm..

I manage to find the reason as to why the BOM is not exploding, apparenly looks like the application SD01 is heavily modified and when I change to SD02, its working accordingly.

I truly appreciate all the help and patience you had, in trying to help me resolve this issue. Thanks gain Phanikumar.

For header Item it has to be ERLA as item category group.

For item it has to be NORM...Which is missing in your case....

also at VOV4:

ZSMT:::::ERLA:::Blank::::Blank:::TAQ

ZSMT:::::NORM:::Blank::TAQ::::TAE(This is missing in your case)

If you have maintained pricing for higher level item category, then then Item Category Group in material master should be ERLA.  You have maintained NORM which should be for component.  This means, your VOV4 settings for Higher Level item should be

ZSMT:::::::ERLA::::::Blank:::::::Blank:::::::TAQ

Check the usage of BOM in CS02, hope usage is different in CS01

Also check what is the BOM status ?

check the BOM components and their usages in MAST table

Hi Santosh,

really appreciate your feedback, i have check the pointers which you mention and confirm, the BOM is active, one thing which I notice is that under table MAST I am seeing only the main item (header item of the BOM).

BOM status is active.
