Could you please help me in reading the Business rule:

Hi,

this rule is applied to all members of your account dimension that have a RATETYPE property of END. The data is then converted by flow.

The first line defines that all flows are converted at the END rate, which is stored in your rates cube. The converted amount is written to the source flow.

The second row applies to either the flow with ID FCLO or with a DIMLIST property FCLO, which of these is true cannot be determined from looking at the rule. This (or these) flow(s) is (are) converted at the END rate as well, but the result is written to the FXImpact_AVG_P1 flow.

The third row applies to either the flow with ID FOPE or with a DIMLIST property FOPE. The flow is converted at the AVG and the result is written to the FXImpact_AVG_P1 flow.

The fourth row applies to either the flow with ID ID FOPE or with a DIMLIST property FOPE. The flow is not as such converted but any amount already in group currency is kept (rule [AS_IS]) but multiplied with a factor of -1. The result is written to the FXImpact_AVG_P1 flow.

The fifth row applies to either the flow with ID FCLO or with a DIMLIST property FCLO. The flow is converted with the negative of the AVG rate. The result is written to the FXImpact_AVG_P1 flow.

So, the FXImpact_AVG_P1 flow is calculated as:

FCLO at END rate + FOPE at AVG rate - FOPE as already in the system times minus 1 - FCLO at AVG rate.

Hello Arnold,

Thanks for your reply...

So do you mean after all the flows for particular account are converted into reporting Currecny by END Rate via First Line, then in the second line the calculation is getting done on the converted value i.e. End rate on already converted value of FCLO in USD and will get stored into FXImpact_AVG_P1?

For e.g. Suppose we have value in FCLO as 15000 in LC (HUF) and END rate mainatined is 50.

So, by first line, it will convert into USD 300 and will get store in FCLO as 300USD.

Now , as per second line,FCLO will again get divided by END Rate and will get 6 USD in FXImpact_AVG_P1?

Am I reading it correct?

Please clarify.

Hi Apoorva,

The first part of your assumption is correct, if FCLO is 15000 in LC and the END rate is 50, the first line will create a USD value of 300 USD on the FCLO flow.

However, the second line works of LC again, so essentially it will write 300 USD onto the FXImpact_AVG_P1 flow.

The fifth line will again work of the 15000 in LC but convert at the AVG rate instead of the END rate. So if we assume AVG is 40, the USD value would be 375. Therefore the fifth line would write -375 USD onto the FXImpact_AVG_P1 flow. -375 because the rule says -[AVG].

Hello Arnold,

So what value would be copied in FXImpact_AVG_P1 in case of 4th Line, i.e. in case of [AS_IS]*-1?

Will it work on LC value or will copy coverted value with minus sign?

Hi Apoorva,

[AS_IS] simply tells BPC to keep an existing amount in converted currency, BPC does not perform any calculation in this case.

For example I would usually run the carry forward business rule in both LC and converted currency, so it would populate the FOPE element in both currencies. [AS_IS] would then keep the amount carried forward rather than re-convert the LC amount.
