FEBA - posting negative amount for positive posting rule

Former Member

Hello,

could you please help me with this doubt arised regarding FEBA?

In FEBA I can see a document posted with negative amount against a positive posting rule?

In OT83 I check the configuration, and everything looks all right:

-Posting rule +301 is created.

-Posting rule is defined with the correct debit and credit account.

As per my understanding, this should not occur: negatinv amounts should be against negative posting rules, and positive with positive.

Am I right?

Am I missing any configuration point and the posting is done wrongly?

Could you please help me?

Thank you

Hi,

I am not sure if i understood your question correctly but if:

1. If there is an inward cash movement i.e. cash came into your bank account, it will be shown as Credit in your bank statement, hence it will be posted with Positive amount.

2. If there is an outward cash movement i.e. cash goes out of bank account, it will be shown as Debit in your bank statement, hence it will be posted with Negative amount.

Let me know if this answers/resolves your doubt.

Hello,

thank you for your answer, but is not that exactly what I mean.

Positive amounts should be posted only against positive posting rules created in OT83.

In this case, a negative amount has been posted against a positive posting rule.

I think there must be an error, but cannot find what.

All the rest of postings done in FEBA are correct: negative amounts agains negative posting rules, and positive amount against positive posting rules:

Thank you

Hi,

There are two settings which affect the selection of posting rule:

1. Assign External transaction type to Posting rule. So i assume you are getting Bank Transaction Code 301 in your bank statement which stands for inward cash movement. In this configuration you must have assigned

External Transaction         +/-              Posting Rule

           301                        +                 R1

Hence for all credit movement with BTC 301 system will select R1 as your posting rule. In your posting rule check Posting type & Posting on account key settings.

2. The Posting rule assignment also gets affected by Search String configuration. Check if there is an additional search string defined for the BTC 301, which leads to some other posting rule.

Check if this gives you some lead into the issue.
