How to export the data using import wizard in BO XI R2?

Hi Experts,

I have seen many blogs on how to import/export data from server to .BIAR using import wizard but surprisingly I was unable to find how to copy the data from .BIAR file to server.

I'll explain the issue more elaborately.

I have created the .BIAR file using importwiz. And then I have tried to copy the data in the .BIAR to a different server, but I was unable to see the folders and the reports when I'm trying to do it with the Importwiz(Please note that I'm aware that we can copy data from server to server using import wizard).

So, I just wanted to know why are we unable to see the data in the .BIAR file when running the Import wizard? Let me know if you need any more details.

Thanks in Advance,

Samrat Muddasani

Samrat,

One you have your BIAR file from BOE XI server you can use the UMT (Upgrade Management Tool) to go from Biar to Server, see screenshot below.  You must be running XIR2 w/ SP4 or higher to go to BI 4.x related Platform.

Hi Ajay,

Thanks for responding. But you know I want to send the data to the same XI R2 server. SO my question is should we use same Import wizard to transfer the data?? Or is there any other tool in BO XIR2??

Thanks,

Hi Samrat,

You need to use Import Wizard for the importing the BIAR file as well. The issue you are facing could be because of BIAR file getting corrupt.

If it does not list the folders then surely it is corrupted. There is a limitation on number of objects in BIAR file. Try creating a smaller BIAR file with less objects and it should work.

Hello Samrat,

Kindly make sure the .BIAR file which you are using is exported from Import wizard and not from Command line utility. If an .BIAR file is created from Command line you may not be able to import it using import wizard. You may again need to go for command line utility.
