Is there any requirement of programming knowledge on BO and BI ?

I would be thankful if anyone can explain me if there is any requirement of programming knowledge in BO and BI. I have raised this question because this same question was asked to me by our top management. Please do me the needful.

Hi Ranendra,

You need to have a basic understanding of any server side scripting language like jsp or servlet to understand the war files and deployment.This is not must but would be added advantage.

As rightly said in above conversations SQL is must for reporting.

Not the entire tool has the programming scope, In SAP BI you still need ABAP programming to write routine & customer exits in the background to achieve some logic.

When it comes to Business Objects you require the basic of programming or scripting or sql querying in webi and crystal reports.

So it all depends on your logic and the data-flow you use, hope this clarifies.

As Suman rightly told, it would be great if you have ABAP knowledge (For BW) and SQL( for BO)
