Reg R/3 Timeout

Former Member

Hi all,

I am using ITS 6.20 patch level 19(with hotfix). I am getting r/3 timeout error as shown below during execution of some reports as shown below

R/3 System did not respond (timeout)
The R/3 System did not respond. Timeout occured. Session terminated.

I tried changing the http connection timeout to 900 secs and also the ~timeout property in ITS.

Vasu

Hi Vasu,

Might sound really dumb. but have you checked concerned R/3 system.. if that's running??

Or if there has been some changes system property to r/3 server after ITS installation, which led to this problem .

Hi,

I have checked the r/3 system and it is running. I am able to view other reports. I am getting timeout error only for reports which takes long time to execute the reports.

Hi Vasu,

I hope you have already re-started ITS server after changing this parameter in globa.srvc

Hi Vasudevan,

I assume the timeout occurs because the report extends the timeout of 300000 milliseconds the external ITS 6.20 waits for the SAP system to respond. You should see a error message

"CsRead, Reading response from R3 timed out (timeout=300000 Milliseconds)"

in diagnostics.log or in sapbasis_*.trc. Please check the traces.

Best regards,

Hi Klaus,

I am seeing the error message as you mentioned . So do i need to increase the timeout value in R/3?.

Hello Vasudevan,

SAP note 727510 applies. Please note that transactions that exceed five or even ten minutes runtime are not really suitable for a web based environment. There might be other components between ITS and the browser that will close the connection if no activity is going on for a prolonged period of time.

Jan
