DTP Stuck in Production System

Former Member

Hi All,

We have a DTP(cube to cube load) which runs daily in a process chain. Last week it got stuck twice without extracting any data and the status as yellow.

We made the status RED and deleted the request and repeated the step in the process Chain and it got completed successfully in 20-25 mins.

It got Stuck for over 7 hrs and as it didn't timeout or abort, we have to forcefully kill the job by going to SM51.

Can anybody please explain in detail why this might have happened.

Thanks,

Max.

HI,

Maybe you have many processes running at the same time, or check also the authorizations

check what user is executing the process chain in background and check the authorizations for this user.

sometimes this is the problem and when you execute manually it works well because your user has all the authorizations.

even it says dtp running , go to target and click on LOG you will see sometimes there are errors in log file.

Hi Maxban,

It looks like at the  same time , some other target is accessing the Infocube.  Just change the timings and check the  same.

did you get any short dumps?

what's in the system log?

most likely you have some kind of deadlock situation... which should be mentioned in the system log and probably causes a short dump as well

the reason why the DTP log is not updated can be found in your "settings" for "waiting time until status incorrect" (default it's set to 7 hours, but you can overwrite that value)

Hi,

With out any error or warning message hard to find the cause.

As my guess there might be other loads will be running at the same time. So all available application servers will be busy. so there is no free application servers to process your request.

Next time you can observe available application servers at SM50 and trigger your load. other wise you can ask basis team to increase the required application servers. Or try to schedule your load some other time(where there is less burden on bw server) if your business accepts.

Have you added delete index step on your process chain before loading to cube.

check at your source cube - if any other loads are loading to source cube or filling aggregates are in process or any attribute chnage run is on related master data info object.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

We have a BIA index deletion step--> Delete contents of Cube--> Load DTP--->Fill BIA Indexes.

There are other chains running and these are daily chains.

Thanks,

Max.

during your load please check the available application servers at SM50. if there is no free application servers then your request won't be processed. As per you needs with help of basis team you can increase application servers or change your load schedule time where less burden on bw server..
