Dear Experts,

I would like to know if I will change notification type from M1 or M2 to another user friendly name like  M1 to MR and M2 to MalR, first of all is possible, if yes then what will be the impact on existing created and completed notifications, changes will be reflected on them or not.

Thanks

ERPTech.

Hope you are talking about changing the Description in Configuration Node not in SAP Easy access node.

No. of characters in Notification type code is 2. So you can't change M2 to MaIR.

If its only Description of M1 & M2 types, then you can go ahead as you wish. It will change all existing as well as new notification types description to the current one.

Meheswaran KD,

No not the description i am talking about type code which is M1 or M2 to change it to another, your are correct type code contain only 2 characters.

So there is no way to change type code ?

Thanks

ERPTech.

Its not clear to us whether you want to:

  1. Create new notification types (e.g. MR) and keep/retire the existing M1/M2 options via configuration
  2. Or change the notification type in an existing notification (e.g. from M1 to MR)

Please clarify.

You can create New Notification types as per your requirement. Don't change the existing notification types.

For existing Notification types, you can remove Number range assignment so that users can't create new notifications with that types.

Also, through Authorization Control, you can give only Display & Change access for Old notification type notifications.

Peter,

I want to know if possible to change notification type which is M1 to MR, not in the existing created notification and what will be the impact.

As mentioned by Mr. Maheswaran to create a new notification type rather than changing, so it means it is not posible.

Thanks

Yes, its not possible to change the existing notification type. You have to follow above mentioned steps to get the desired results without affecting any existing as well new documents.

This is applicable for all kinds of documents such as Orders, etc.,

You will have to create the new Notification Type, e.g. "MR", perhaps as a copy of "M1" etc.   You will need to make all the necessary configuration anew in SPRO.

Hi

I think It is not possible to change the notification type if it is created in IW21, but if it is created using IQS21 then i think it is possible.

It will not have any impact of changing the same , unless there is any specific mandatory input for the notifiation type
