Hello,
I would like to change the URL of my portal from http://abc to http://xyz using sapwebdispatcher
Checked the note : Change Portal URL - Portal - SCN Wiki
But that is for redirecting the request but I need to change the URL which you see in the address bar.
Thanks for your input
Naren
There are plenty of documents/blogs/etc. on how to install and configure SAP Web Dispatcher, use the SCN search to locate them.

Hi
Let me rephrase the Q. How do you change the URL from http://abc to http://xyz in NW Portal 7.3
so that users dont see abc anymore
If users use abc, it will redirect to xyz.
Thanks,
Naren
-Maintain a DNS alias for your portal IP address and ICM redirect parameter icm/HTTP/redirect_<xx> - Internet Communication Manager (ICM) - SAP Library
But you will need to maintain certificates and SSO conditions again accordingly.
Best way would be to use sap web dispatcher or any other load balancer.

Mahesh & Rajendra,
Thanks for the reply, the note 1577357 only describes proxy pass and not reverse proxy. We can do this with apache, but I was wondering if we could use sap provided tools or software to achieve this?
-The DNS entry is the first step - this will help with redirection
- Cert is necessarry for the SSO and log out
- URL box will remain http://abc when users view it. (how do you change this without apache)
Thanks,
Naren
