Hi Bishwajt,

MEASURES settings are clearly shown on the report's screenshot. You are writing just to write something?

Hi Vadim

I am facing a similar situation in YTD model. Though the account types are clearly marked as INC/ EXP , the last period value is getting rolled up to the Querter time period node in YTD measure.

The YTD formula refers only to LEQ and INC and treats them at closingbalance (same formula for both). Would changing the YTD formula solve the issue ?

Hi Surabhi,

For YTD model all account types including INC and EXP are YTD. It's a correct behavior. What is the issue? Show the example in a new discussion!

HI Vadim

The data example is given below. The Q1 reflects only the Mar value in YTD mode and not the sum total of Jan - Mar. Accounts are of type Inc/ Exp

Jan Feb Mar    Q1

10   15    30      30

IT"S A YTD CUBE!!!!

INC and EXP - are also YTD!

Q1=MAR

If you select PERIODIC measure for YTD cube, the result will be:

10 5 15 30

You enter data in YTD cube as YTD values: FEB 15 is YTD FEB, FEB periodic will be 5

Is it clear?

ok I understand what you are saying. So in this case if the txn system has periodic system (exp = 10 in Jan , 15 in Feb and 30 in Mar) , at the time of extractor we should total and convert to YTD and load 10 in Jan , 25 in feb and 55 in Mar

All,

Vadim's explanation is correct. You need to understand the behaviour of storage type of cube (periodic,YTD). and also the various ACC Types

@Surbhi:- What you are expecting is a periodic behavior but unfortunately your cube is YTD hence each month value is also as on date (YTD) hence the Quarter will show the value same as value of last month of quarter and Year Total will show value as same as value of last month of year.

@Naveen  AST/LEQ type accounts are YTD in nature and the value is always as on date. Hence your quarter 3  value will show the same value as the your SEP month value (0 in your case).

Yes, Correct!

Have to load 10 in Jan , 25 in feb and 55 in Mar

Hi Nikhil,

     Can you please explain this.

If i post data accordingly.

      JUL     AUG     SEP     Q3

XX  100     100        200     200

-->  i am not posting data on SEP month logic data should be Q3 = SEP = JUL+ AUG but SEP = JUL+AUG is not working.

IF data is posted manually on SEP then Q3 will pick data from SEP month. Then what is the use of YTD Measure.

Hi Naveen,

"  i am not posting data on SEP month logic data should be Q3 = SEP = JUL+ AUG but SEP = JUL+AUG is not working."

Incorrect idea!

If you don't post data to SEP - it means that SEP YTD value is Zero!

It means that accumulated value is zero at the end of SEP and at Q3.

Let's imagine you post YTD:

      JUL     AUG     SEP     Q3

XX  50        100           5       5

5 is a balance at the end of SEP and the same balance at Q3.

Vadim

P.S. Please talk to any finance person - he will explain you the difference between balance sheet and P&L accounts.

Naveen,

Your ACCTYPE is AST/LEQ- Thease types of accounts are Balance sheet accounts and are YTD in nature by default. This means that tha values in these accounts are till that period. So If I have values as below.

Jan          Feb          March          Q1

100          150          300               300

The value of 150 in feb is that including 100 of Jan as its the value till Feb. The periodic value for Feb would be 50. The value of march 300 is that including both 100 of jan 50 of Feb and 150 of March. So the value 300 is the value till March and hence the same value will goto Q1. This is how Balance sheet accounts (AST and LEQ) are supposed to behave. You are seeing Q1 as 0 coz you March value is 0 which means the value till March has become 0.

EXP and INC accounts are periodic in nature. So if you post data as below.

Jan          Feb          March          Q1

100          200          300               600

The values 100 200 and 300 are only for that period and does not include the previous month balances.

YTD measure for above posting will show you

Jan          Feb          March          Q1

100          300          600               600

I hope this clears your doubt. If still in doubt Please read more on ACC Types and storage types at SAP Help.

Nikhil

HI Naveen

There are 2 aspects to this , the txn data loaded to BPC and the values displayed agst measures in BPC. Once the value is there BPC converts it into Periodic / UTD per reqt.

So in your case , if your txn system is YTD , the balance of 200 would come as Sep value and get loaded into BPC cube. It will then get displayed in Sep and agst Q3.

If the value is not loaded , BPC will take it that the final YTD values is zero and Sep balance was        -200.

Looks like ACCTYPE of the account of the report line is AST or LEQ - then it's YTD even in periodic model.

Then the Year total will be equal to DEC - ZERO

Hi vadim,

The Accounts are AST and LEQ.

As per YTD Logic.

I have posted data.

     JUL     AUG     SEP     Q3

XX  100     100

Data after saving must be( IDEAL Situation)

     JUL     AUG     SEP     Q3

XX  100     100       200      200

But this is not happening.

As in screen shot Data is not rolling up to Q3.

But if Post data on SEP end of the Q3 data is pulled to Q3.

In this case in Measures(UJA_FORMULA_APP) Storage Type PERIODIC formula for CASE of AST and LEQ id CLOSINGPERIOD([%TIME%].[LEVEL02]

Thanks!

Hi Naveen,

If you post to YTD accounts:

     JUL     AUG     SEP     Q3

XX  100     100

The result for Q1 is ZERO because SEP is ZERO!

You have to post YTD figures:

     JUL     AUG     SEP     Q3

XX  100     200     200      200

It means, that PERIODIC is:

     JUL     AUG     SEP     Q3

XX  100?     100      0          200?

Assuming that in JUN you have 0

Vadim

P.S. MEASURE formula is absolutely correct!

Hi Vadim,

Can you clear the concept of YTD.

i.e

If i post data accordingly.

      JUL     AUG     SEP     Q3

XX  100     100        200     200  -->  i am not posting data on SEP month logic data should                                                             be Q3 = SEP = JUL + AUG but SEP = JUL+AUG is not working.

IF data is posted manually on SEP then Q3 will pick data from SEP month. Then what is the use of YTD Measure.

Naveen,

There are two important concepts to be understood i.e ACCTYPE (INC,EXP,AST,LEQ)and storage type YTD periodic.

AST/LEQ   and storage type periodic/YTD.

Jan          Feb          Mar          Q1

100          150          200          200   -- AST /LEQ is always as on date and hence your Q1 is same as Mar. If you try to derive periodic values for Jan Feb and Mar, it will 100 50 and 50 respectively.

Q3= Jan+Feb+Mar will happen if your ACCTYPE is EXP/INC and storage type is Periodic.

P.S storage type is not same as Measure. Storage type is the way data is stored in the Models.

YTD measure is used to see the YTD view values from periodic entries to model.

Try to read more on Storage type and ACCTYPE from SAP Help for better understanding.

Nikhil,

     Thanks for your illustration.

I am storing Data with Periodic  Measures.

Jan          Feb          Mar          Q1

100          50                              150

Now when i change the Measures in REPORT to YTD or Keep Periodic(By default AST and LEQ account type will refer to YTD).

Jan          Feb          Mar          Q1

100          50

As per the logic explained by you

--> Data present for JAN,FEB on Periodic 100,50

-->Data should be when YTD JAN,FEB 100,150

1)I am not getting FEB value changed to 150.

2)DO i need to post data on march...? if i do not, why data i not rolled up to MAR = JAN + FEB.

Naveen,

I am storing Data with Periodic  Measures.

Jan          Feb          Mar          Q1

100          50                              0          --- Q1 will be 0 as your ACCTYPE is AST/LEQ

Now when i change the Measures in REPORT to YTD or Keep Periodic(By default AST and LEQ account type will refer to YTD).

Jan          Feb          Mar          Q1

100          50                             0

As per the logic explained by you

--> Data present for JAN,FEB on Periodic 100,50  - Yes . But when you say Feb Data is 50 it means your value has reduced from 100 in Jan to 50 in Feb which means the periodic value of Feb is -50. Dont get confused. For AST/LEQ value of 50 in Feb means the total balance till Feb is 50. You are getting 0 in Q1 as your March value has become 0 which means your total balance at the end of March is 0 and hence your Q1 ending March shows value 0. If you post something in March then your Q1 will show the same value.

For AST/LEQ the Q1 value is same as the March value and Year.TOTAL value is same as Dec Value.

-->Data should be when YTD JAN,FEB 100,150. For AST/LEQ ACCTYPES Measure YTD and Periodic show same values as AST and LEQ are YTD in nature by default.
