Reporting in organisation structure

Hi Experts,

What can be the issue in reporting org. units to a higher org unit, when the higher org. unit is not assigned with any company code.

The lower org.units are assigned with a company code.

If the root Org unit does not have any company code assigned - how do u plan to hire the person who will be in the root Organisation unit ?

Authorizations and work flow work only when the position of any employee is correctly mapped in the Organisation structure. In your case root Org unit needs to receive approvals from the child org units who have company codes assigned,  the work flow will work as long as the reporting relationships between the organisation units are maintained. But for the top Manager of the root Organisation unit to be able to do the approval needs to be proper position and details maintained in the IT 0001 - Organisation assignment including the company code details for the authorizations to work.

Company Code is assigned to PA ... (Lower Org. Unit)

Company Code is a unique four alphanumeric characters that represents an independent and legal accounting entity. It's the smallest and minimum necessary organizational structure in SAP that required by law to provide a set of financial reports (such as Balance Sheet and Profit/Loss Statements).

Now PA (Personnel Area) is a small & separate Organization Unit for which you can provide financial reports...

A set of PA (Lower Organization Unit) will form a Large Organization Unit....called Company...

Can you provide more detail? Are you getting an error or what? Are you using a sap standard transaction or report?

I need to track the costs for employee salary at department level which are in a single company code by assigning different cost centers to departments.

What will be the impact on master cost center by such assignments ?

How to map the cost centers to salary elements of employee?

Hi Rishi,

For assigning more CC to employee go with IT 0027.

in that info type Master CC is like as CC of IT 0001 and in the CC distribution list give your CC with Percentage. Total percentage of all the cost center's should not cross the 100 %

Hi Glen,

My requirement is to define an org unit(which is notwith a company code) as root org unit to which many org. units are assigned which are companies with company codes.

Will there be any issue with respect to reporting for approval by person at root org unit for anything related to sub org units which are with company codes?
