Publication executes successfully, but attachment is empty....

Hi Experts,

Our system configuration is as follows:-

BI-4.0 SP6 patch 3

Our application runs on Windows Server 2008 Enterprise R2

We have around 100 publications which are scheduled 9 am daily.

We are facing an issue from past few days where some publications are getting executed successfully, their attachment contains no data.

However if we run the source report it shows data, this issue is appearing randomly among publications.

Also note that there are no report level filters, prompts on the source report.

Kindly guide me on the same.

Thanks and regards

Ankit Pandey

Hi All

Apart from the suggestions you all have given,is their any way i can prevent publications containing no data to be delivered to end users.

The base report for my publication is a WEBI report.

As far as i know, their is now way to set delivery rules on the publications based on webi.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Ankit,

the only way I could think of would be to use a dynamic recipient list from a second WebI report which only returns data/email-adresses if the main-report contains data.

But not sure if that would be a suitable solution for you.

Hi Johannes

You were right.

The issue was the "Execution time" parameter set to 20 minutes in the universe.

We unchecked that value.

Also we changed the connection pool type to "Disconnect after every tranasction'

Now the publications don't contain blank data.

Their is definetly an improvement in the number of blank reports sent out.

Thanks for you help.

Thanks everyone.

Hi Ankit ,

In my case - we are scheduling reports based on events . Schduling is success but the reports does not contain any data. so when we manually refresh the report it fetches data.

and when we looked into the logs . I see the same error input does not contain any data.

Could you please let me know. How did you resolve this issue in case of publication.

I can check for universe settings - execution limit.

Where did you change connection pool type.

We are using BOBJ 4.1

Thanks,

BB

Dear Bharathi

Please do the following:

a)Open Universe design tool.

b)Import the Universe

c)Go to File-->Parameters

d)Under the defination tab ,click on edit connection.

e)You will see existing connection details.Click on next.

f)Their you will see "Connection pool mode" in the Configuration parameters window

Let me know if this helps.

Hi,

another reason could be max. SQL-execution time defined on the underlying universe.

The report would be sent out empty if the SQL runs too long.

Hi  Johannes

I will try this out.

I will  change the "Limit Execution time to" from 30 minutes to more in Universe parameter settings.

Will let u know the results.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Distribute this number of publications to run at different times with intervals or 15 - 30 minutes. The issue could be possibly due to excess load on the servers. Check whether there are any new schedules created to run at the same time(09:00 AM). The new schedules created might be giving this problem to occur.
